Audi SQ8 gets a 4.0-liter V8 diesel engine with twin turbocharging
The new Audi SQ8 TDI is powered by an eight-cylinder diesel with twin-turbo charging. The 4.0-liter engine of the SUV top model is the strongest diesel engine in Europe, according to Audi.
The new Audi SQ8 TDI is even stronger than the VW Touareg V8 TDI with 310 kW (421 hp), which was introduced in the spring. The 4.0 TDI with eight cylinders and twin turbochargers produces 320 kilowatts (435 hp) in the Audi top model. The maximum torque of 900 Newton meters is between 1,250 and 3,250 revolutions per minute. This accelerates the SQ8 TDI in 4.8 seconds to 100, the maximum speed is limited to 250 km / h.
The turbo diesel uses a 48-volt electrical system and an electrically driven compressor (EAV), which assists in starting and accelerating at low speed. The mild hybrid system with belt starter generator can recuperate and store electricity in the lithium-ion battery.
Sporty suspension technology for the Audi SQ8
Equipped with air suspension, the SQ8 can vary its suspension height by 90 millimeters. As standard, the driving dynamics system "Audi drive select" and the "Adaptive air suspension sport" with regulated damping are on board. Optionally, the driving dynamics can be further optimized with a sport differential, roll stabilization and four-wheel steering.
In dark interior, the sports seats are standard. As in the other Q8, two large touch screens with haptic and acoustic feedback are integrated. Among other things, the digital instrument cluster "Audi virtual cockpit" offers red graphic details. In the late summer of 2019, the Audi SQ8 TDI will be launched.
