BMW introduces the third generation of the BMW X6

After five years of construction BMW replaces the second generation of the X6. The now presented "Sports Acitivity Vehicle" gets bigger again and gets for the first time an illuminated kidney.

Compared to its predecessor, the new BMW X6 now grows to 4,935 millimeters in length and 2,004 millimeters in width. The wheelbase also increases and now stands at 2,975 millimeters. Only the height drops, the new BMW X6 is now 1,696 millimeters high. Grown is also the now one-piece kidney grill, which is also optionally illuminated. The BMW SUV stands on 19-inch alloy wheels, sizes up to 22 inches are available on request.

The BMW X6 is optionally powered by powerful petrol and diesel engines. The preliminary top model BMW X6 M50i with V8 gasoline engine makes 390 kilowatts (530 hp). The BMW X6 xDrive40i has a straight-six gasoline engine with 250 kilowatts (340 hp) under the hood. A 294-kilowatt (400 hp) in-line six-cylinder diesel engine works in the BMW X6 M50d, while the BMW X6 xDrive30d with inline six-cylinder diesel delivers 195 kilowatts (265 hp). Basically, the power is transmitted via an eight-speed Steptronic automatic, the all-wheel drive BMW xDrive ensures variable distribution of the drive torque on the front and rear axles.

The chassis with double wishbone front axle and a five-link rear suspension is equipped as standard with the "Dynamic Damper Control". The "Adaptive M Suspension Professional" offers active roll stabilization and integral active steering. Optionally, a two-axle air suspension with automatic level control and an off-road package are available.

The design of the interior is based on the already familiar BMW X5. Driver and passenger take place in the X6 on massage seats. The digital "BMW Live Cockpit Professional" offers the two 12.3 inch displays. The infotainment comes with the "BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant". The trunk offers a volume between 580 and 1,530 liters. The X6 has as standard a cruise control with brake function, ascent and passenger warning with city brake function. Optionally, an ACC with a stowage function or the "Driving Assistant Professional" are available, among other things. The new BMW X6 will be built in the US BMW Spartanbur plant and will be launched at the end of 2019.
